It’s been a winter. Not a nice one but hard on everything and everyone. A nice day with temps in the 50’s to rain and then snow. The cows get wet in the rain then like the tress the rain freezes to ice. Wood shavings for the boys and alfalfa pellets. The girls also get alfalfa pellets and have a barn to go into. We put a protein bio available mineral lick in the barn to lure them in but no one wants to sleep in the dry wind free zone. You can lead a horse to water but you cant make them drink. Round four or five is coming in tonight rain to start and up to another 3 inches of snow. Thankfully even though we have never done this before we ordered in plenty of good hay and we are not scrambling to find quality feed. GREAT job Wayne for meeting the needs of our herd! Looking forward to spring!!!
